Mavrovo is a national park which occupies an area of
73,088 hectares and is the largest among the three national parks in Macedonia.
Located in the western part of Macedonia it was declared as a national park in
1949. The park includes the mountains: Korab, Deshat, the southwestern branches
of Shar Planina, most part of Bistra and the northern parts of Krchin. The
central part of the national park covers the valley and the confluence of the
river Radika. Mavrovo artificial lake is also within the national park.
